January Breakfast with Speaker Patricia McGann
Patricia McGann has been involved in Catholic education for over 25 years. She has a Masters’ Degree in Counseling, and a Masters’ Degree in Educational Administration. In 2005 she became the principal of Our Lady of Lourdes School in Bethesda, Maryland. There she created a school environment in which all students were welcome, and teachers used instructional strategies and techniques that allowed all students to be successful socially and academically. The school served as a model of inclusivity for other elementary schools in the area. After retiring from Our Lady of Lourdes School in June, 2018 she established The McGann Group, and embarked on her private consulting career. Mrs McGann has provided professional development to faculties in Suburban Maryland, Virginia, the Diocese of Columbus, Ohio and in Chicago, and she has presented on a variety of topics at educational conferences. During the 2020-2021 school year when in-person professional development was suspended, Mrs. McGann collaborated with teachers and staff at Our Lady of Mercy School in Potomac, Maryland to establish an Academic Support program based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning. Today, Mrs. McGann writes a regular column in The Parish Times Newspaper, she serves on the Board of the Stroud Foundation, and as co-chair of the Our Lady of Mercy Advisory Board. She is writing a book for parents based on her experiences working with parents and children. Mrs. McGann has been married to Terrence for 50 years. She has five adult children and twelve grandchildren.
